Nelson Mullins’ Appellate Practice and Legal Strategies group operates nationwide, providing strategic legal counsel to major corporations, local businesses, and governmental or quasi-governmental entities. The team is known for crafting sophisticated legal strategies not only for appeals but also at every stage of litigation and investigation. They frequently become involved early in a case to shape a strategic vision, working closely with trial counsel to preserve key issues, develop effective motion strategies, and reduce litigation risk.

This group is often brought in to prepare for trial with a focus on appeal, to handle post-trial motions, or to challenge adverse verdicts through direct appeals or extraordinary writs. Their approach is defined by a commitment to solving complex legal problems through thoughtful, persuasive written and oral advocacy. Recognizing the broader public policy implications of certain appellate decisions, the team tailors its arguments accordingly, especially in courts where such considerations are paramount.

The team includes seasoned practitioners, many of whom are former law clerks to federal and state appellate judges and justices. Their first-hand knowledge of court operations and decision-making processes enhances their ability to navigate the appellate landscape effectively. Whether guiding litigation strategy from the outset or pursuing emergency relief, Nelson Mullins’ appellate lawyers bring deep insight, experience, and a problem-solving mindset to every matter.
