Matt has handled over 70 reported appellate cases in the Supreme Court of Texas and trial and appellate courts across the country. He represents clients in a wide variety of matters – including complex commercial disputes, oil and gas litigation, and high stakes personal injury cases. His broad experience bridges the gap between success at trial and prevailing on appeal.
Matt began his legal career as a law clerk for Chief Justice Rex Davis of the Tenth District Court of Appeals in Waco, Texas. He later joined a large Texas-based law firm as a partner in the appellate and litigation practice groups. He previously served the local bar as Chair of the Tarrant County Bar CLE and Appellate committees. Matt also taught as an adjunct law professor in 2014. Matt earned his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law and received his B.A. from Baylor University.
Matt has been repeatedly recognized as a Super Lawyer and Rising Star by Texas Monthly magazine.

We have significant experience assisting trial lawyers with motion practice, error preservation, and jury charge preparation. Our Appellete group is frequently asked to file petitions for writs of mandamus or interlocutory appeals. We advise our clients as to whether these specialized proceedings are available and make sense in any given situation.
